Beginning at 12pm EST today, the United States Mint will have the 2023 1oz Proof American Gold Buffalo available for purchase to collectors.
Struck in .9999 fine 24-karat gold at West Point, the 1oz 2023-dated Proof American Gold Buffalo coin features a depiction of James Earle Fraser’s iconic design of the 1913 Type 1 Buffalo Nickel. The obverse depicts Fraser’s profile representation of a Native American. “LIBERTY” and “2023” are inscribed in addition to an “F” underneath the date representing Fraser’s initial. The reverse features an American Buffalo with “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” “$50,” “1 OZ.,” and “.9999 FINE GOLD” inscribed on the design.
The stunning Proof gold coin will come encapsulated inside of a black presentation case and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity. The product limit is set at 16,000 with no household limit. The Mint will retail the coins at $2,940.00.
